Jury Summons 

If you receive a jury summons from Bee Cave Municipal Court, you must report for jury service unless:

  • You do not meet the qualifications to serve;
  • You qualify for an exemption; or
  • You request and receive a postponement.

Complete Your Juror Questionnaire

Before your scheduled jury service date:

  • Complete the juror questionnaire.
  • If you do not qualify to serve or are requesting an exemption:
    • Circle the reason(s) on the questionnaire;
    • Sign the form; and
    • Return it to Bee Cave Municipal Court by email, mail, or in person.

You are not required to claim an exemption. If you qualify, you may choose to serve as a juror.

Jury Service Questions

You do not need special training, legal experience, or knowledge to serve as a juror.

To serve, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Live in the state of Texas and the county where you are summoned;
  • Be eligible to vote in that county (you do not have to be registered to vote);
  • Be of sound mind and have good moral character;
  • Be able to read and write;
  • Not have recently served as a juror:
    • More than six days in county court within the last three months; or
    • During the last six months in district court;
  • Not have been convicted of, or currently be under indictment for, misdemeanor theft or a felony.

You may request to be excused from jury service if you:

  • Are 75 years of age or older (you may also request a permanent exemption beginning at age 70);
  • Have legal custody of a child under age 12 and jury service would leave the child without adequate supervision;
  • Are enrolled in a public or private high school;
  • Are enrolled and attending a college, university, or other institution of higher education;
  • Work for the Texas Legislature or a legislative branch agency;
  • Have recently served as a juror in the county during the required time period;
  • Are the primary caregiver for someone who cannot care for themselves (this does not apply to health care workers);
  • Are an active-duty member of the U.S. military who is deployed away from your home station and county of residence.

If you believe you qualify for an exemption, follow the instructions on your jury summons or contact the court.

When you report for jury service:

  • Bring your completed juror questionnaire.
  • Arrive at the time listed on your jury summons.
