About Mayor Kara King
Kara King was elected to her first term as Mayor of the City of Bee Cave in May 2020. She served on the Bee Cave City Council beginning in May 2013. She has been a resident of Bee Cave since 2007.
Kara earned a degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1998 and worked as a 7th grade Life Science teacher at Bee Cave Middle School.
Mayor King believes in balancing responsible growth with preserving the quality of life, character, and heritage that define Bee Cave. She is committed to protecting the community’s identity as the “Gateway to the Hill Country” while supporting thoughtful, sustainable development.
Kara and her husband, Ben, met at Texas A&M University and spent the first eight years of their marriage moving throughout the country while Ben served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps. They have three children: Wes, Brannon, and Tierney.
